"Things Behind the Sun" es la demostración perfecta de lo mucho que se puede conseguir con una simple guitarra acústica. Su aparente sencillez (como en los demás temas de "Pink Moon") esconde una composición brillante y una interpretación perfecta. No hay más que recordar que fue grabado (al igual que el resto del álbum) en una única toma, sin overdubs posteriores. Y la voz de Nick que, si nos fijamos, difiere tanto de su voz de los dos primeros álbumes, nos da la imagen de la depresión por la que estaba pasando, una depresión tranquila, reposada. Además, el tema tratado es sorprendentemente optimista si lo compáramos con el resto del disco.
Poco más me queda por decir. Sólo recomendar escucharlo (y ya de paso el resto de grandes canciones de Nick, que ya postearé algunas aquí). Lo único necesario para disfrutarlas es un poco de tranquilidad y prestarles un mínimo de atención. Además, otra prueba de la grandeza de Nick es que no hace falta un momento concreto del día para disfrutarlo. No es necesario esperar al crepúsculo, o a la madrugada solitaria, para ponerte tu disco de Nick Drake. Porque sus canciones (incluso las de "Pink Moon") se disfrutan a cualquier hora del día. Te transmiten en cualquier momento. Y eso no lo consiguen muchos artistas.

No sé si "Things Behind the Sun" es mi tema favorito de Nick Drake. Sé que está entre mis tres o cuatro favoritos, eso sí. Tampoco sé si es la mejor opción para adentrarse en la música de Nick. Pero sí sé que "Things Behind the Sun" es el tema clave de su discografía. Ese con el que dices "joder, creía que Nick Drake era la leche, pero estaba equivocado... es la leche con nesquik".
